Centuries before Galileo observed the moons of Jupiter, scientists in the Middle East were building the first cameras, developing the physics of light, and taking some of the first steps toward understanding the nature of the Universe.

Explore the remarkable astronomical ideas and discoveries of the Islamic Golden Age and its impact on modern astronomy in this series of special planetarium shows presented live by a U of T astronomer.

These shows are 50 minutes long, followed by a 50 minute telescope tour also on the St George campus.

These Planetarium Shows are inspired by the idea that all of humanity is #UnitedByTheStars. This is an initiative of the U of T Graduate Astronomy Students Association, supported by the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Centre for Planetary Sciences.

All shows are FREE and ONLY AVAILABLE TO REFUGEE NEWCOMERS and their host families.

U of T astronomers who are normally paid to present planetarium shows are doing it free of charge in order to provide free shows to refugee newcomers and their host families. These shows are our way of welcoming refugee newcomers to Toronto. Please do not book these shows if you are not a refugee newcomer or their host family.

Even though these shows are free, you need to reserve a ticket in order to obtain a seat at the event. This is because the planetarium show venue only seats a maximum of 26 people.

العرض التفاعلي يستغرق 50 دقيقة يتبعه زيارة للتلسكوب في حرم الجامعة مدتها أيضا 50 دقيقة.

جميع العروض مجانية بالكامل و هي فقط لللاجئين الجدد و عائلاتهم المضيفة.

علماء الفضاء في جامعة تورونتو لن يتقاضوا أتعابا بدلا عن هذه العروض لكي تكون مجانية لللاجئين و عائلاتهم.
